World Zionist Congress resumes deliberations this evening

Seven hundred twenty delegates and observers from over 30 countries are participating in the three-day virtual conference.

This evening, the World Zionist Organization will resume deliberations at the 38th World Zionist Congress (WZC) that is being conducted online from Jerusalem.

The World Zionist Congress will be broadcast on the Congress web page and the World Zionist Organization’s Facebook page. 

Tonight’s Congress broadcast will begin at 16:00 Israel time with a report from WZO Chairman Mr. Avraham Duvdevani on WZO activities between the 37th and 38th Zionist Congresses. At 16:25, a symposium entitled “From Crisis to Opportunity” will be held. The panel will feature Chairman of the Jewish Agency Mr. Isaac Herzog and will be moderated by Ms. Sivan Rahav-Meir with the participation of U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, Dr. Ruth Calderon, and Professor Amnon Shashua.

At 18:00, a second symposium on the subject will be conducted, featuring Ms. Penina Tamanu-Shata, Minister of Aliyah and Integration, moderated by Dana Weiss with the participation of Professor Dan Arieli, Mr. Malcolm Hoenlein, Dr. Kira Radinsky, and Rabbi Sergio Bergman. At 19:20, Major General Ori Gordin, head of the Home Front Command, will deliver a briefing on the current security situation, the IDF, and the coronavirus challenge.

The World Zionist Congress will conclude tomorrow, with elections for the leadership positions of the National Institutions – the World Zionist Organization, Keren Kayemeth Le’Israel (Jewish National Fund-JNF), and Keren Hayesod. Current issues on the world Jewish agenda are being deliberated at the Congress, including the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic on Jewish communities worldwide; preparation for a wave of immigration to Israel as a result of this worldwide crisis; the battle against antisemitism, settlement development in Israel, and more.
