Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must enter quarantine after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, his spokeswoman announced on Monday.

The prime minister tested negative for coronavirus in tests taken on Sunday and Monday, but he will have to remain in isolation for five days.

Netanyahu came into contact with Likud Court President Michael Kleiner last Tuesday, and Kleiner tested positive for coronavirus earlier Monday. Netanyahu then canceled his appearance at a conference in Jerusalem and underwent an epidemiological investigation.

Finance Minister Israel Katz also met with Kleiner last Tuesday.

In addition, a secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office was found to have coronavirus on Sunday, but Netanyahu had not come into contact with her.

This will be Netanyahu’s third time going into self-isolation, but he has not contracted COVID-19.

Cabinet meetings have been taking place via video conference in recent months, such that Netanyahu would not have to miss any while in quarantine.
