Churches Team Up with Tim Tebow to Make Prom Event for People with Disabilities an International Success

Written by on February 19, 2021

Churches worldwide joined Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine 2021 to make it a success.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, closures couldn’t put an end to people’s value, the Tim Tebow Organization asserted. Tebow, in a tweet, stated, “COVID can cancel a lot of things but it can’t cancel celebrating people’s value and worth.”

To avoid violating government restrictions, the website stated that “Night to Shine 2021 was hosted through Shine-Thru and Virtual Night to Shine.” The organization is planning to sign up churches in 2022 to do it again.

Night to Shine was originally slated to be in-person, as it has been for the last six years, but due to government lockdowns as a response to the Coronavirus, they had to find a new way to host the event.

Tebow explained on Twitter, “To be honest, six months ago, we weren’t sure exactly what to do in regard to Night to Shine. But we knew we had to do something. Cancelling the event entirely was never an option.” He went on to state, “From the Shine-Thru’s happening all week to the virtual experience that premieres tonight, we now see this year’s prom as an opportunity to bring God’s love to more people than ever before.”

As a response, churches across the globe partnered with Tebow to make the event truly special amid these times of unprecedented closures and regulations. The only continent that did not have any partner churches was Australia, but multiple churches in Europe, Africa, South America, and the Middle East all partnered to put the prom night on.

According to the Night to Shine website, “Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older.”

The website has multiple pictures of the event and video summaries of past years. Night to Shine has reached its 7th year and they plan on continuing into 2022.

The website has sign-up forms and more ways for how people can get involved.
