Candace Cameron Bure Responds after JoJo Siwa Calls Her the ‘Rudest Celebrity’ She’s Ever Met in a TikTok Video

Actress Candace Cameron Bure has responded to teenage performer JoJo Siwa, who recently labeled the Fuller House star the ‘rudest celebrity’ she has ever met.

Siwa, a 19-year-old former reality star, actress, singer and YouTuber, posted a TikTok video on Sunday where she shared images of celebrities and what she thought of them. Among them was a photo of Bure, which she dubbed the “rudest celebrity” she’s met. The video quickly went viral and was brought to Bure’s attention. Bure addressed the matter earlier this week.

“I was shocked when I saw the TikTok on Sunday and had no idea where it came from,” Bure said in a video posted to social media Tuesday night.

She further noted that she managed to get in touch with Siwa earlier that day and had a “great conversation” over the phone.

Siwa reportedly did not believe that her TikTok video, which has amassed over 20 million views, would go viral.

“What did I do to you?” Bure asked Siwa.

After initially shying away from going into detail, Siwa revealed that her claim referred to a past encounter with Bure on the red carpet at the “Fuller House” premiere. At the time, Siwa – then 11 years old – asked Bure to take a photo with her on the carpet, but the actress told the former Dance Moms star, “not right now.”

In Bure’s video on Tuesday, she shared that she apologized to Siwa.

“JoJo, I’m so sorry,” she recalled saying. “Please know, especially as a mom, it breaks my heart that I made you feel that way,” she added.

According to Faithwire, Bure also encouraged social media users to be mindful of what they post online.

“I think the lesson that we can learn is to be mindful that, no matter how many followers you have, even a 10-second trending TikTok video can do damage because our words matter and our actions matter,” Bure said. “Whether you have 50 million followers, or 500 followers, or five followers, we all influence the people around us.”

Bure also apologized for ever rubbing people she’s met the wrong way.

“I get asked for photos and autographs often, and 99 percent of the time, it is my joy to do that,” she explained. “But I’m still a human being – all public people are – and sometimes you have bad days, and sometimes you’re stressed out.”

“I pride myself on being a kind person. … I just hope that we can all have grace for one another.”
